"That you are here—that life exists, and identity"

"Leidy" (Work in progress)

With Golden High Flow Acrylic

Airbrush on Board

15x20"

To venture out to the new; To leave one's own comfort zones in hopes of finding new forms of expression ; Is that not what the act of creation is about?  Walt Whitman said in his, Leaves of Grass :

The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.

That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.

Think about it. Ponder in a thoughtful and questioning way, "That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse."  What could be your verse? What could be your verse if you choose to contribute? In the end, there are no excuses for silence when you have something to say! Will you remain stoic and let someone else tell your story or not tell it at all? When I say story, I am talking about your inner voice.

This is not just about painters. This is a message for everyone who took the time out to read this! Your verse could be a poem, a short story, musings in your journal; Your verse could be a sketch, a commentary on your favorite song or a collection of your favorite songs. Contribute your verse!

In this day of self publishing and social media, the ability to contribute your verses is easier than ever. Could you imagine what Walt Whitman would think of the" silent individual" in all of this?

Why create? Why share who you are with all that will listen? Remember what Walt said;

The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.

That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.

God Bless You All,
Tim
